Amazon & Flipkart need to sync with Indian Festivals

StumbleUpon

E-commerce has changed the way we shop and this is the case in many countries. Every country has their own best selling websites, however when we talk about India then Amazon & Flipkart are the top selling companies. There are other new players as well, but would take time to be the major ones

Every year the Amazon's Great Indian Festival Sale & Flipkart's Big Billion Days come around Dussehra or Diwali

However, this year there is a drastic change where it started in an unexpected time. These days "Shradhs" are going on, when  Hindus across the world don't buy any new stuff (Luxury, Vehicle, Clothes, Electronics, or most of the Items you get on Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, TataCliq etc). If you go to the market, then most of the shops would be waiting for the festival season to welcome Customers.

Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale

This year "The Great India Festival on Amazon" is starting on 3rd October (2nd October for Prime Members) & " The Big Billion Days on Flipkart" is starting on 3rd October (2nd October for Plus Members), however the Shradhs will last upto 6th October. The first Navratri is on 7th October which is the actual day from which the shopping start and lasts upto Diwali Days.

Now, if you see from 7th October till last day of the sale which is on 10th October, the customers only get 4 days in actual to order new stuff. Rest of the days are not for all the customers in reality, which is a loss of business. Not sure who is heading the companies now in India, but they surely need to change their strategy. If you see the services of both the companies when it comes about the delivery to delivered product + post sales experience, everything has degraded a lot.

I have been a regular customer of Amazon since the launch days in India but now if I get a product in local market with less hassle then I prefer to go, check the product and then buy. Specially if I talk about Flipkart then the products were not that par and I had to escalate a lot for the return of a non-functional product. Mobiles have been great to buy if they are new launch else I have seen people complaining a lot in Mobile deliveries.

Entire year we wait for the Diwali season to shop our desired household and other luxury items, electronics etc. But this year, a pathetic change has come from both the companies in selecting their dates for the sale. If they are really serious about the business in a country like India, where people are sensitive enough even for shopping then these companies need to align their business as per the Make in India & Made for India policy.
